2007-2008

2008 MDS launches a new web-based fulfillment system with integrated WMS providing true real time access, with broad management capability and limitless flexibility to view, sort, query, and download secure program data — purchase orders, inventory, orders, customers, and shipping on the web.

MDS launches Six Sigma Quality Program.

2007 FedEx begins staging Trailers daily at MDS to support MDS rapidly growing parcel shipping operations.

MDS adds additional shipping lines, harwdware, and advances integration with FedEx for custom services and support.

MDS implements cost-saving packaging designs and materials to promote eco-friendly shipping, reduce material costs, and improve productivity.

MDS expands shipping to Canada & International points, implementing a parcel consolidation strategy for cost-efficient shipping to Canada and Intra-Canada Ground delivery via FedEx Trade Network.

MDS applies Kaizen to achieve rapid continuous improvement and cost savings with it’s kitting & assembly operations.

2003-2006

2006 MDS is purchased by Bradley Felker from James Allen.

MDS expands its value-add kitting and assembly operations to include specialized equipment and capability to handle new product lines for a major manufacturing client.

MDS acquires high speed automated shrink-wrap equipment for packaging of small to medium size media including CD, DVD, books, and other items for drop-ship fulfillment and bulk distribution.

2005 MDS formally announces MDS Package Services as a service mark feature to its broad fulfillment capability. MDS Package Services MDS Package Servicesbecomes a focal point for delivering the net lowest possible fulfillment price when considering shipping & mailing costs. MDS adds automated pallet wrap equipment for servicing its growing cross-dock and distribution services, and to expedite receiving of increasing volumes of inbound overseas containers of client e-commerce and promotional products for fulfillment.
2004 MDS Launches newly upgraded barcode data collection system & equipment to enhance WMS performance.

MDS adds 2 new Shrink packaging lines from Eastey and Damark along with conveyor and specialized workstations to expand production and workflow capacity.

2003 MDS upgrades its 4GL database to enhance connectivity and the client interface. The upgrade includes an integrated web server and web-publishing module enabling a wide variety of data driven web applications in support of inventory and order management.

MDS initiates processing of automation flats, CASS processing, mail manifesting, and barcode scanning to direct presort operations.

MDS integrates semi-automated hot melt carton sealing equipment. MDS partners with parcel expediters to offer a cost-effective shipping alternative for packages. This service includes web based tracking via USPS electronic Delivery Confirmation.

MDS expands its shrink-wrap packaging capability to support its growing assembly and contract packaging business.

MDS extends its scope of Web based support and services to include standalone website design, development, and integration to streamline CRM, inventory management, and the ordering process.

MDS expands its assembly and packaging operations through engineered fixtures and special tooling.
2000
MDS broadens its logistics based services with one-stop solutions through Web based programs and strategic trading partner relationships, including 24/7 call center support and a nationwide network of distribution centers.
1999
MDS initiates e-commerce relationships with new and existing clients.
1998
MDS acquires a 60,000 sq. ft. facility in Milwaukee, moving its offices and corporate headquarters. This facility is established as a fast turn assembly and pick-pack operation. MDS operations grow to 385,000 sq. ft.
1997
AMI develops a custom configured radio frequency bar code warehouse management system in support of its expanding fulfillment services division.
1994
MDS expands fulfillment operations, moving from the 35,000 sq. ft. east wing of the Green Tree Road facility to the main 150,000 sq. ft. section.
1990
MDS Fulfillment Services is formed to leverage MDS capabilities, resources, and systems expertise to a growing fulfillment industry. MDS experiences double-digit annual growth in its fulfillment business over the next decade.
1989
AMI expands its capabilities through its distribution arm to provide specialized pick-pack fulfillment, shipping, laser printing, and mailing services to clients.
1988
The corporation changes its name to Allen Management, Inc. (AMI). MDS Transportation becomes a new division of AMI, providing transportation brokerage services to companies in the textile industry.
1986
MCS reorganizes from a C corporation to an S corporation and changes the name of its chief operating division to Midwest Distribution Systems (MDS).
1984
Professional Micro Systems changes focus, takes on a new name, and Bar Code Resources is founded. BCR specializes in radio frequency (RF) bar code data collection warehousing and distribution system implementations.
1979
MDS purchases a second distribution center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Available space for warehousing and distribution increases to 325,000 sq. ft.
1976
Professional Micro Systems, a systems consulting group is formed to provide minicomputer systems solutions and implementations for a broad array of applications to small and medium sized companies.
1972
Milwaukee Commercial Storage (MCS), a successful warehouse operation since 1962, is purchased by Henry O. Allen and James L. Allen.
